Jim and Baxter have been compadres since veterinary school.  They had a band during college and have stayed in touch ever since.  Dr. Schafer became a regulatory consultant to the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.  Dr. Black practiced large animal medicine before becoming an entertainer. 

They have recorded many songs written by Baxter and sung by Jim.  They tend to lean country/western because that's the world they live in, but they slide out now and then into Baxter's imagination or Jim's master tightrope walking on the guitar strings.
